The Vineyard
It started off with a few select grapes planted in 2000. A large selection of wine grapes were planted in February of 2005. We have plans to continue expanding the vineyard each February until we have approximately 1000 grape vines. This is a small family vineyard with everyone pitching in to help. The vines are checked almost daily and we try to keep everything as organic as possible. Our horses, which eat the hay from our meadows, provide large qualities of home grown fertilzer for our plants. We release lady bugs and praying mantis in the vineyard each spring. The plants love the coffee grounds we, and our friends save and apply along with the mulch we make. We also have three large bat houses to help with the bug population.
We offer a selection of seedless table grapes, grapes for jams and jellies and several wine varieties
. If you have always wanted to make your own jams or wines with fresh grapes you picked yourself, stop by for a visit. You can pick your own grapes if they are in season. If needed, we can crush the grapes for you. Our vineyard allows you to pick and choose which types of grapes you want to eat or make jams or wines out of. No prepackaged grape juice allowed.
We are only open on certain weekends, so please call ahead to make sure we are home. If we are home, you are welcome to stop by and visit or help with the grapes. In mid February we do our heavy planting of new vines and help, whether experienced or not is always welcome. We host a grape stomp each year for friends and neighbors who help harvest or work with the grapes. This year's stomp and dinner will be Oct 18, 2008.
